Find motivated volunteers for your project or charity
Recruiting volunteers takes time and money that most charities don't have to spare. FarFrom offers a different model: people come to you.
Volunteers on FarFrom are typically professionals taking a career break, couples travelling with purpose, or early retirees with skills and time to share. They're not looking for a cheap bed. They want to contribute to something real, stay somewhere with character, and leave having made a difference.
In exchange for private accommodation, volunteers help out for a few hours a day with practical tasks, whether that's grounds maintenance, habitat work, event support, or whatever your organisation genuinely needs a hand with. No wages, no invoices. The exchange is simple and straightforward.

What accommodation is acceptable?
Volunteers need a private space to stay for the duration of their placement. This is a core part of what makes the exchange work, and it's what sets FarFrom apart from other volunteering platforms.
Acceptable accommodation includes a private bedroom in your property, a self-contained cottage or annexe, a cabin, shepherd's hut, or similar structure with basic amenities. The space doesn't need to be luxurious, but it does need to be private, clean, and safe.
If you're unsure whether your accommodation qualifies, get in touch with us before you create your listing and we'll let you know.

Free hosting is available to registered charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), and unregistered community groups based in the UK. If your organisation has a registered charity number, you can sign up and get started straight away. We verify registered charities automatically during sign-up using the Charity Commission (England and Wales) and OSCR (Scotland) registers. If you're a CIC or an unregistered community group, sign up as a host and then get in touch with us. We'll review your organisation and approve your account once we've confirmed your status — you'll know within 48 hours if you're eligible for a free host account. Not sure whether your organisation qualifies? Get in touch with us and we'll let you know.
You can ask for help with a wide range of tasks including gardening, animal care, property maintenance, painting, DIY projects, harvest assistance, conservation work, event support, and more. The key is to clearly describe the tasks in your listing so volunteers know what to expect.
This depends entirely on your accommodation and the scope of your projects. Some hosts welcome individual travellers, while others can accommodate couples or small groups. Consider your available space and how many people you can comfortably manage.
This varies by host. Some provide meals as part of the exchange, while others offer kitchen access so volunteers can prepare their own food. Be clear in your listing about what's included so there are no surprises.
Clear communication is key. Set expectations upfront about tasks and quality. If issues arise, address them directly with the volunteer. Our platform also has a review system to help maintain standards and accountability on both sides.
