Off-Platform Communication Policy

Last updated: 21.09.2026

Overview

All stays facilitated through FarFrom must be booked and confirmed on the FarFrom platform. Any host or volunteer found arranging or conducting a stay outside of FarFrom will have their account permanently deactivated.

Once a booking is confirmed on FarFrom, hosts and volunteers are welcome to exchange contact information and communicate directly to discuss the stay, determine if they're a good fit for each other, coordinate arrival times, and other logistics of the stay.

Stay Protected

Conducting business off-platform means losing all protections:

  • No record. If something goes wrong, there's no proof of what was agreed or when the stay will happen.
  • No dispute resolution. We can't intervene in disagreements if we don't know a booking exists.
  • No reviews. Reviews can only be left after a confirmed stay on FarFrom. Off-platform stays leave no feedback trail for the community.
  • No platform accountability. If a host cancels, changes terms, or doesn't provide what was discussed, we have no record to help resolve it.

By keeping stays on FarFrom, you're protected by our booking system, dispute resolution, and community feedback mechanism.

Conducting Business Off-Platform

It is prohibited to:

  • Arrange or conduct a stay without a confirmed booking on FarFrom
  • Move an existing booking off-platform
  • Negotiate alternative fees, rates, or terms outside FarFrom
  • Request contact information (phone, email, social media, etc.) for the purpose of conducting business off-platform
  • Direct users to external booking sites, payment systems, or messaging apps for conducting business

We monitor for disintermediation attempts, including phone numbers and contact details shared before booking is confirmed, requests to move communication to external services, fee negotiations outside FarFrom, and patterns suggesting off-platform coordination.

Violation of this policy will result in permanent account deactivation.
